Perth-Bayswater is the oldest operational rugby club in Western Australia, founded in 1906. In 2017 we will proudly celebrate 111 years of community Rugby in Perth. Our Club continues to maintain a strong focus on inclusiveness and building a rich family culture. We have one of the strongest Junior Clubs in the competition fielding over 300 boys and girls every season, and a Senior Club fielding teams in every division including the Women’s competition, and the Golden Oldies.
In the last few year our members have celebrated some significant personal achievements. Jonathan ‘Jock’ Stanley reached his 100th Premier Grade Game Milestone, and our Premier Grade Captain Adam Grant celebrated his 50th Premier Grade Game milestone. Both are stalwarts of the Club and represent “The Best with Pride” in all that they do. On the field, the wins were hard to come by for our Premier Grade in 2015, but we still managed to lift the John ‘JT’ Taylor Cup against Palmyra, and the Bill Watt Cup against Wanneroo. The celebrations were spectacular.
Whilst 2016 will see our Senior teams in a committed rebuilding phase, there is strong indication that they are ready to kick off 2016 with a bang under their new coaching structure, with a team of dedicated mentoring and fitness experts assisting with their transition through the pre-season training regimes at present.
Our U19 Colts narrowly missed the 2016 finals campaign, after a hard fought season in very tough competition. They are now focused on the transition to U20’s in line with RugbyWA competition changes, and as always remain the team to watch.
In the Junior Competition, our U15 and U12 teams both represented Perth-Bayswater in the finals, as they fought for their respective premiership flags. Unfortunately our U12s missed out after a brave run, but our U15’s brought home the flag. The U15’s achievement was truly remarkable – at the start of the season, their player numbers were low, and they had several new players. Not just new players to Perth-Bayswater, new to rugby! They formed a Barbarian team with Uni and stormed their way home!
We are extremely proud of all our teams, and with our new direction for 2016 with our coaching and mentor panel, we will build bigger, better, more competitive teams and see many more competing for Premiership Flags in 2016.
With our Pre-Season already underway, let’s all jump on board the Baysie Bandwagon and lets do this for 2016…join us now @ [email protected]
